Moving to work program announced.
The Keene Housing Authority is delighted to be a part of this demonstration program that allows us to tailor our housing programs to fit the needs of Keene and the Monadnock Region. We have administered a program that:
- Provides affordable housing for the neediest in our community
- Removes disincentives from those seeking employment
- Provides stability in housing costs for those of static income
- Provides extensive case management and coordination of services to address the needs of our residents and program participants
- Maximizes the utilization of the increasingly scare financial resources available to non-profit housing providers.
The MTW Annual report covers the results of our SPECTRUM Housing Program for past year. It highlights many of the successes, including reducing rent burdens for our participants, increasing resident skills and abilities to seek self-reliance, and also lists some of the other successes of the KHA this year.
This report also serves to identify areas of our operations that need to be improved or addressed. For instance, there were a tremendous number of turnovers this year, which increased rent loss and increased maintenance costs. We have taken measures to mitigate this situation.
All in all, the SPECTRUM Housing Program, as allowed by the MTW program, has resulted in a wonderful program that improves the housing situation and the lives of the people we serve. As usual, this program was made possible by a talented and dedicated hard-working staff, who constantly seek to improve and better the lives of our residents and subsidy recipients. |
