A key component of the Spectrum Moving to Work Demonstration Program is the Resident Self Reliance Program.

The goal of the Program is to provide and/or advocate for services, programs and education, to support families in their efforts to build resiliency, and achieve and maintain economic independence. Staff assist residents in making connections to community resources and offer support in areas such as employment, education, homeownership, financial management, and family and personal development. Three full time Resident Service Coordinators work one-on-one with families helping them identify barriers to self-sufficiency, set goals, and develop plans to overcome those barriers.

After completing family needs assessments, the staff facilitates or arranges workshops related to the needs of the residents. Past workshops have included:

• Money Matters
• Cash Management
• Women’s Write
• Creating Lasting Family Connections
• Teen Group
• Homework Night
• Camp Night

Resident Self Reliance is a community oriented family program; working with people as contributing members of the community.
